Meet Our Attorneys

Kurt P Leyendecker, Esq.

Kurt Leyendecker has been representing clients, from individuals to large corporations, on their intellectual property legal issues since 1999. His practice is focused is primarily patents and trademarks, which includes advising his clients on their intellectual property strategy from procurement through to enforcement.

Kurt holds a degree in metallurgical engineering with a minor in polymer science from the University of Illinois. Before becoming a patent attorney, Kurt was a materials engineer with two Fortune 100 companies. He was involved in the fabrication of several NASA spacecraft and pursued several research and development projects related to the use of advanced composite materials in space launch vehicles and aircraft. Additionally in the early ’90s, Kurt founded Rocket Science Mountain Bike, Inc., a company that manufactured high-end mountain bike components of his invention and design.

After graduating from the University of Denver Strum School of Law, After graduation, he had the privilege of practicing at two national law firms with prestigious patent law groups. In 2003, Kurt opened a solo practice that became Leyendecker and Lemire a year later.

Kurt’s diverse background and experience allow him to provide unique insight and perspective to his clients. Kurt views himself as a partner in his client’s ventures, and accordingly, he is committed to providing his clients and prospective clients with forthright and honest feedback to help ensure a long, mutually beneficial business relationship.

Peter C. Lemire, Esq.

Peter Lemire is a founding member of Leyendecker & Lemire, LLC, specializing in business and intellectual property law. Previously, Peter served as in-house counsel to various companies in the Denver Metro area in industries ranging from high-tech dotcoms to strategic investment firms specializing in the purchase and sale of distressed commercial debt. He has advised companies on issues such as general corporate and business law, employment law, mergers and acquisitions, contract drafting and negotiation, software licensing, strategic relationships, copyright, trademark, cyber law and has been an expert witness in the area of copyright law.

Peter holds a Bachelor of Science in economics and a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Purdue University, a Juris Doctor from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, and an MBA in finance from the University of Denver Daniels College of Business. Peter was selected as a Rising Star distinction from Super Lawyers, a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas, in 2012, 2013 and 2014.

Peter has written and published numerous articles including a business and intellectual property law-centric column for ColoradoBiz Magazine.

With his background, education, and ability to craft creative solutions to cutting edge technological and legal issues, Peter is able to represent and advise his clients on the most complex and timely issues facing businesses today.

Andrew Graff, Esq.

Andrew S. Graff, an associate at Leyendecker & Lemire, specializes in intellectual property matters, including the prosecution and drafting of patent applications and trademark registration.

Prior to moving to Colorado, Andrew earned his undergraduate in 2005 in Materials Science and Engineering from Purdue University. In 2008, he received his Juris Doctor from the Ave Maria School of Law. While at Ave Maria, Andrew was an intern at the Patent Law Clinic where he drafted a non-provisional application for an inventor and logged over 100 hours researching, drafting and conducting weekly meetings. He also clerked for a small boutique law firm that specialized in patents, trademarks, and copyrights and acquired general knowledge of trademark registration and responses. In October of 2008, Andrew became an associate for the same firm and furthered his experience in the prosecution of patent applications, specifically in the electrical engineering field. Andrew became a member of the State Bar of Michigan in November 2008.

After moving to Colorado, Andrew spent a year and a half as a project manager for Hewlett-Packard’s Patent Data Integrity Project and handled the data integration of new acquisitions. Before starting his own firm, Andrew was a contract attorney for a patent attorney in Loveland where he drafted non-provisional patent applications for small businesses and prepared complete responses to final and non-final office actions for a major software corporation. Prior to joining Leyendecker & Lemire, Andrew was the solo member of a law firm that handled intellectual property matters.

Andrew became a member of the State Bar of Colorado in October of 2009, and a registered attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office in May of 2009. Andrew is licensed to practice in Colorado, Michigan, and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

During his free time, Andrew enjoys spending time with his wife and children. When time allows, Andrew plays golf, soccer, and enjoys fly-fishing the rivers in Colorado.
